RE: SAB Kegs
One of the guys that comes to the worthog meetings has done it. He had to make his own spanners and a few other things though. Just ask around at the next meeting, he's almost always there (and he always brings beer... good man

RE: SAB Kegs
I know i tried to find answers on the net and I searched for days to find a very bad explanation! One main reason is the coupler type (G) is not the most commonly referenced coupler type on the net.
The first thing is to make sure there is no pressure left in the keg...Very important! I first used some PVC pipe that had a similar diameter as the big black rubber ring. I pushed that into the ring release the pressure, a few times. Then I used a pair of water pliers to push in the same rubber ring, then while pushing down grip the inner ring, while using all your energy (that you have gained from the five or ten homebrews you drank while pondering what in the world you are doing) turn it clockwise. This will drop the dip tube into the keg. Once you have done that you have achived what the manufactures did not whant you to..well done ![]() The next step is to unscrew the top. I made a tool out of some pine wood. It is basically a triangular spanner used to take the top off (here you will need to drink at least a few homebrews to have the strength to remove it as it is tight!!). !!This next step will only make sense once you have removed the stem!! To make this a more realistic process in the future you will need to grind off a small piece of the dip tube (stem). You will notice there are three little lips that lock into the top piece and one of them is longer. Grind that one to the same size as the others and this will prevent the stem from being "safety locked" and eliminate the need of the water pliers step For all your accessories (coupler, faucet, regulator, beerline etc) contact Bevan from draughtcraft.co.za. He was very helpful and his prices are great! All the best! *Note that this is all done at your own risk and working with any pressureised vessel is extreamly dangerous! |
